There is a concerted effort to stop Americans from learning about global warming; media already ignores the devastated midwest in order to falsify Iran missile tests....LYING!!!!!!
and in NC there are massive wildfires where the ground beneath the former swamps is on fire....THE GROUND.....or actually peat.....it is a CRISIS, people cannot go to the beach, it is life threatening, yet no MSM report it.....
this is seriously wrong.....wake up, report this to your senators...make them take us seriously....or blame yourself for the results of apathy.....
Jesus said love thine enemies, not bomb them and murder them.....

Progressives must make the Democrats learn to heed them AFTER their candidate has been chosen. Now, progressives are used for their activism and then betrayed. Only voting for a third party candidate can drive home that lesson! Obama and McCain are coming closer together, each day. Obama, like WJ Clinton, Gore and Kerry, has no backbone. Vote Nader 2008!

Yes, if they plan to vote, "progressives" should vote for Nader.

The latest Zogby poll shows Obama trouncing McC in the Electoral College, probably even capturing AZ.
The candidates are not drawing closer.
All the more reason for Obama not to betray his progressive supporters.
But, perversely, all the more reason for him to ignore progressives, while he cashes in with the The Owners.

I think the way the bill was written, leaves an opening for legal action. Much better to serve jail time the leaving it as a civil matter. This will go nicely with the world court arresting Bush and Channey for torture more fuel for the fire.

The only Congress worse than this one was the previous one. We have a real dearth of institutional leaders. A strong, progressive leader in the White House can do a lot of good in our system, but where are we going to find one? I'll vote for Obama, but it's going to be like all of the votes I've ever cast for president from McGovern on--the lesser of two evils.

To Hamiltonian: You say you will vote for the lesser of two evils. Which of these do you prefer: Leprosy or the Plague?
I refuse to endorse either disease with my vote. I will select from among the minor parties or write in a name of my own choosing.
Staying home is never an option: The vote is far too precious and should be used as an expression of a person's political will. It should never be cast aside to no purpose. My own purpose is to use it to chip away at the duopoly. I always cast a vote for every office, but never for any candidate who is a Democrat or Republican. It is a long-term strategic decision that will probably not bear fruit within my lifetime. But I'm patient and persistent.
As a final thought, I never thought the Berlin Wall would fall during my lifetime either. But every time I walk into the voting booth, I think of entirely ordinary people banging away with their sledgehammers in Berlin--and from both sides of the wall. No tyranny, not even a Two-Party tyranny, can survive when dedicated and free people keep chipping away at it.
