He should confront McCain at the next debate, but otherwise stay above the fray.
Shame McCain with "Come on John, you know that's not true"

McCain is trying to envoke hatred and I am disgusted by Gov. Palin's dirty way of provoking fear. Obama is clearly the better man for President due to the fact he continues to rise above McCain's gutter sniping and continues to be steadfast on the issues that we are concerned with as American's.

McCain makes such scurrilious charges under cover of his riotous, crazed fans at his Klan rallies.. Yes, stay above the fray in everyday campaigning, but don't let them go unchallenged.. Smoke him out in a public forum where the Nation will have to hear his apology. Only that way will they put to rest such nonsense once and for all.

Obama should use his excellent lawyerly communication skills to assertively confront McCain's hypocrisy with cold hard specific examples and quotes so that he is forced before an international audience to respond with why he used this innuendo and what he will do in the future to calm the bigotry that this pandering is causing for the rest of us.

I think he should confront McCain and let America know the ads are stabs in the back only.

The sleezy stuff that has been hurled at the Obama campaign can't be ignored, but the obama campaign must handle this as cleverly and carefully as possible and avoid turning this into a hero shoot out or shout out. Avoid any appearance of arrogance. I think Senator Obama has chosen the perfect tact by dealing with this as a humorous episode in silly season.

It's time to challenge the very notion that Bill Ayers was a "real" member of the Weatherman. Don't get me wrong, I think that the Weatherman were a bunch of crazy kids that just did damage. But the real ones got 20 to life; not endowed chairs. Ayers was probably an agent provocateur.

Obama can continue on the high ground by presenting his platform. In the meantime Joe Biden and others in the party can get the facts out regarding McCain's attack messages. I see no advantage for Obama to take a defensive position in these matters of personal attack.
