I thought chain of command was sacred in the military. McChrystal's recommendations should have gone first to Gates who would then provide them to Obama. They should be heard, but not through "leaks" and public speeches.

I am now sure that the upper echelons of the military is frought with far too many individuals who believe they are "Christian Soldiers" and not American Soldiers. McChrystal is a soldier who owes his alliegence to the Country first and POTUS as HIS Commander-in-Chief. To go public on the Afghanistan issue and insist on sending more "collateral damage" to the front lines purely for "ideological" ,not military, reasons is surely wrong. Our military is trained to quell with force, not smiles and help. Take off the uniform, and put on a suit.
