What 2009 election outcome will have the greatest long term implication?

  • The Democratic win in the 23rd congressional district of NY. The divided right wing is only helping Democrats succeed.
    30%  (363) 30%
  • The Republican victory in NJ. If a former Bush fundraiser can win against the Obama-endorsed Corzine, times are tough for the Democrats.
    40%  (486) 40%
  • Mike Bloomberg's mayoral win in New York. Money is still everything in politics.
    7%  (85) 7%
  • Maine voters repealing the law that extends marriage rights to gay couples shows there is a long fight ahead for equality.
    21%  (256) 21%
  1. I voted not to repeal Maine's marriage rights law, and I suspect that at least some of the votes to repeal it were the result of confusion. The wording of the referendum was confusing and it's possible that some thought they were voting one way when in fact they voted the opposite.

  2. NY 23rd a kick in the mouth to the Beck Brigade and Tea Partyers.

Moderate (Christie) and mainstream (McDonnell) Repubs win.....Nutters or their candidates don't.

  3. The Republicans will have their act together by next Nov and the 23rd will be back in Republican hands. Had the idiotic Republicans had a run-off election to select their candidate instead of a panel selecting a RINO, things would have been different.

  4. The GOP win in NJ; Obama backing a Wall Street fat cat. Makes the Dems look out of touch with the middle class, the working poor and those in poverty. Still nothing from this congress or administration on trade policies, job outsourcing or cheap imported labor.

They look like they want to maintain the economic status quo while throwing a few bones in the form of unemployment insurance and food stamps to those devastated by supply side economics - small change.
