Excellent article! Our thoughts are limited by the language(s) we know. I have been occasionally given the assignment to try to convince high school students to take a language. To do so, I've written up an essay including vignettes of my use of Spanish in unplanned moments over the years, in business, politics and daily life.

I have used it to help a family from Ecuador who wound up stranded at the Chicago bus station because he did not realize that "SOhio" Street was South Ohio Street.

Anyhow, I applaud the piece.
