    The US Helsinki Commission will hold a hearing on “Freedom of the Media in the OSCE Region,” focusing on trends regarding media freedom in states participating in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Witnesses include: Ms. Fatima Tlisova, a Russian journalist (residing in the United States since March 2007) who was subjected to violent physical attacks and intimidation as a result of her reportage from the conflict-torn North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation; Ms. Nina Ognianova, Europe and Central Asia program coordinator for the Committee to Protect Journalists; Ms. Paula Schriefer, director of advocacy, Freedom House. Room 340 of the Cannon House Office Building.
