Chris Hayes, Washington editor of The Nation and Rachel Maddow Show regular, illuminates the widespread repercussions that will result from the right's continued praise for Joe Wilson's false claim about illegal immigrants receiving subsidized healthcare. First, Hayes argues the GOP will suffer, because their continued xenophobic attitude will further alienate whatever Latino base they still have left. Secondly, even though government subsidized healthcare for illegal immigrants was "statutorily banned in the bill" originally proposed by President Obama, there is now an effort to take actual measures to prevent illegal immigrants from purchasing any form of healthcare in the newly proposed insurance marketplace.
