The Right Finds 9/11 Ripe for Exploitation

By The Rachel Maddow Show

Melissa Harris-Lacewell, Nation contributor and Princeton professor, talks to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow about Glenn Beck's "9/12" weekend plans and right-wing protests. Maddow asks if the "sous chef of politics as performance art," Beck, is tapping into a wider sentiment in the culture, and Harris-Lacewell notes that apparently this group of people is as terrified now as they were on the day after the attacks of September 11, 2001. She also points out that unlike the reaction from protesters who celebrate the member of Congress who attempted to shout down the President, on September 12, Americans were united around the president regardless of ideology. Maddow and Harris-Lacewell also discuss the absurdity of "You Lie!" becoming a chant at right-wing rallies.
