The GOP's 'Wise Latina' Fixation

By The Rachel Maddow Show

July 15, 2009

Rachel Maddow talks to Dahlia Lithwick, chief legal correspondent and senior editor at Slate.com, about "Republican moments" during the confirmation hearings of Judge Sotomayor. Senator Jeff Sessions completely ignored Sotomayor's 17 years of judging experience, choosing instead to focus on her "wise Latina" speech and suggesting she "buddy up" with other judges based on their race or gender. So much for impartiality and objectivity in making the Supreme Court decisions.
