As a Senior Miliatry Interrogator in Iraq, Matthew Alexander conducted 300 interrogations and supervised another 1000. In that time, he became aware of the influence pictures of tortured prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib had in recruiting jihadists. In a challenge to former Vice Pesident Dick Cheney's claims of the efficacy of torture, Alexander argues that the suicide bombers and fighters who volunteered in response to the abuse of fellow Muslims have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans.
