Cheney at the Pump

deadline Poet

When it behooved Dick Cheney to devise
A policy on energy, some guys
In oil with whom Dick Cheney has close ties
All gathered at the White House to advise.
Presumably, they showed up in disguise:
Their names, though fairly easy to surmise,
Were kept, by Dick, more secret than some spies'.
So as the price of gas achieves new highs
And cries from all the working folks arise,
These very guys upon whom Dick relies--
The good oil boys he sought to deputize,
The ones from whom our policy derives--
Are making out like bandits, profit-wise.
Surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise.
