Wrote party rules designed to say
Indicted pols must give away
Their party posts, since soon they may
Have "felon" on their résumé.
This caused a problem for DeLay.
II.
Since Tom reads black and white as gray,
His funds are buried, like Pompeii.
He's bludgeoned lobbyists to pay
For just the sort of entree they
Must have to bend the laws their way.
He's more than earned that sobriquet.
His colleagues fear, to their dismay,
He'll be indicted any day.
III.
Though even they cannot gainsay
Corruption's in Tom's DNA,
At first they started to inveigh
Against the putative DA
To try to cause some disarray.
And then, by voice vote, aye and nay,
They dropped the rule. It's now OK:
If Tom's indicted, he can stay.
