Rick Mayerowitz

Rick Meyerowitz was born in The Bronx and studied fine arts at Boston University. Rick was the most prolific contributor of illustrated articles to the once hilarious, now hilariously defunct, National Lampoon magazine. He painted the poster for their movie Animal House, and was the creator of the magazine's trademark visual, which some say is the best Mona Lisa parody ever, The Mona Gorilla.

Rick and Maira Kalman created the most talked about New Yorker cover in years, "New Yorkistan," about which, the New York Times wrote, "When their cover came out, a dark cloud seemed to lift."

Rick's new book, DRUNK STONED BRILLIANT DEAD, The Writers and Artists Who Made the National Lampoon So Insanely Great" will be published in 2009 by Harry N. Abrams.
