Leslie Savan

Leslie Savan is the author of Slam Dunks And No-Brainers: Pop Language in Your Life, the Media, and, Like...Whatever and The Sponsored Life: Ads, TV, and American Culture.

A three-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, she looks at the power of pop talk, at how everyday language is commercialized--and weaponized. She has appeared frequently on TV and radio to discuss advertising, and she's thrilled to be a talking head in Helvetica, a film about the font. For the 2008 edition of "The Living Room Candidate," the Museum of the Moving Image's online exhibition of presidential ads, Savan wrote the playlist, "When Dems Attack."
