The Ten Minute Activist
Easy Ways to Take Back the Planet
A Greener Mr. Clean
There are dozens of green home remedies out there. And they can do more than just clean our houses. They can heal the environment. Consider that in 2004, 850 billion gallons of domestic pollution washed down American drains. That's more pollution than industry created. Below are a few green remedies to reduce your own household's impact.
To clean your wood floor, use a gallon of warm water mixed with 1/4 cup vinegar; for other floors use a gallon of warm water with a drop of mild detergent.
If you need a surface cleaner spray, use lemon juice in water; if that's not abrasive enough, use bicarbonate of soda with a wet cloth.
For a kinder, cheaper way to get stains out of your carpet, sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on them, wait a bit, then vacuum it up.
Dish cleaner? Just use pure soap and water. Toilet? Warm soapy water.
