100 Days of Obama-Bashing on Fox (Must-See Video)

posted by Ari Melber on 04/29/2009 @ 11:59am

This fast recap of Fox News' Obama coverage is actually rather effective. Media Matters runs through one quote a day from the first 100 days, revealing Fox's early and abiding interest in tarring the new President as a socialist sell-out presiding over an "Obama bear market." There are also reports of a "Blame America vibe."

  1. Awesome. Glenn Beck is such a fool (tool?). Too bad his comedy tour didn't work out so well.

  2. When you're the party organ (in more ways than one) representing the views of Utah, Wyoming and the deep, deep South, with no ideas of your own, what else can you do?

  3. wow...i try to watch that stupidity from time to time, but just can't.

    fair and balanced...lol...

  5. That is an amazing video and shows just how bent and warped Fox "News" really is. One could speculate that there is some sort of horrible, horrible anger at the fact that the Republicans are now in the wilderness behind these demented tirades on Fox.

  6. In a word... ASSHOLES.

  7. Ditto. And more ditto.

They paint themselves as 'The Constantly Vigilant Patriots', but in reality they are nothing of the kind. It's just about money to them. As Snoop Dogg says "Got my mind on my money and my money on my mind".

I must admit listening to Shaun Hannity and Billy Cunningham to keep a close eye on the degenerative mentalities of these folks. I cannot bear to watch Glen Bleeeccchhhh however.

  8. If you want to see some insidious lame crap, go to the Time website.

There's a poll there that asks people to grade Obamas performance.

The poll says that he gets an 'F'

But if you check out the 'state by state' results, only Nebraska gets close to giving him an 'F'... everyone else gives him an 'A'.

The only possible answer to this is that someone hacked the website and reversed the results that show up in the overall data. Pretty weird. Worth checking out.

Update: When I went back, the poll had disappeared.

  9. Dear mr Glen Beck. Apperently I am a ivory tower elitist as I spent four years studying poltical science. You are a pundit who probally didn't graduate highschool. Why am I the one making up plates in a resturant and you are on T.V?

  10. That Steve Dooshy is one saccharin, smarmy bastard.

  11. One really has to wonder at the intention of the path FOX is taking. Is this just a marketing tool; the need to shore up funds due to a declining interest in their bigotry? Or is this a real campaign to drive Americans apart and in the end launch a secession campaign for the 'Bible Belt?' While we can laugh about this, as we (thinking individuals) were certainly guilty of anger at Bush policies, I beg the question -as we were angry at the extensions of executive power, war under false pretenses, denial of our civil rights, and the biggest gift to the wealthy of this country we have ever seen- how can this perfidiously manipulative conservative dogma be looked at as anything but vitriol? Have there been any sensible solutions offered? Has there been valid debate ? Is there anything behind those callous greedy eyes other than more wealth? What steps will it take to say that there is no honesty, no integrity, and in the end no journalism anymore under the roof of FOX? In the end it seems that the 'party of morals' is still raping Jesus in his empty tomb. Perhaps He left so he wouldn't have to hear it anymore. Arlen Specter did, I know I would.

  12. The republican party is strife with Buffoons. This is evidenced by their belief Stephan Colbert is one of "us". Fox news is proof that insanity will reign supreme.

  13. the thing I find most insidious in these folks on Fox is how innocent and concerned they "genuinely" pretend to be. Rush is too obvious in his narrowmindedness but Beck and Hannity try to act the as though they are fearful for the country...when what they are most fearful of is not being in touch with the "throne" again. polls show that obama is personally liked by 81% of americans-- not coincidentally 19% still think Cheney is swell. Hopefully those people will rule the GOP for years to come and reason can prevail elsewhere.

Yes, I had to stifle laughter when I saw Cons watching Colbert and agreeing enthusiastically with everything he said. I wanted to tell them that he was just yanking their chain by acting like one of them...but I didn't 'cause I'm naughty. :)

    Gullible buffoons!

  15. Funny, in that 100 days, Fox has seen their best ratings in the 12-year history of them being on cable. As CNN and MSNBC, the election pulpit for Obama, just plummet.

  17. So all of a sudden FOX News is blamed for bashing president Obama? CNBC, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and on and on, bashed GWB every chance they got for eight years! And you guys whine about a mere 100 days? Grow some think skin. The left is so full of hate and anger shouting for revenge! "Lynch the torturers!" They shout, not mentioning that their own Nancy Palosi attended every meeting prior to the go ahead for water boarding and overall treatment of Terrorists. Just as in 2005 Barney Frank assured the senate that Fannie May and Freddy Mac giving low interest loans to "every one who wants a home" was a good sound idea! But the liberal leaning press will never inquire about these tidbits and more. I mean I'm waiting for a reporter from a reputable paper ask Pres Obama what "enchanted him most about the white house." oh wait that was done already...Soft ball liberal press. LOL Well FOX have a HUGE listening base, they are consistently ahead in the ratings! Oh and for writer BUDMURRY, Rush is NOT on FOX. And for writer TYV... you're waiting tables after four years of college? And you are asking Glen Beck's advise? LOL....LOl Priceless!

    Posted by jamesTaggart at 04/30/2009 @ 2:05pm

  18. @James Taggart -- no true progressive is forgiving the lame liberal Congress for acquiescing to the Bush admin torture program. Have you seen the Nation giving Pelosi (note the spelling, btw) any breaks? No. As for the so-called liberal media bashing Bush at every turn: would that it were so. Did he not f@#% up enough to deserve bashing?

As fot the video, as devil's advocate I might point out that it's marginally coherent, a salad of little snippets, void of context. Kind of useless except for entertaining the converted. (Disclosure: I only got half way through it).

However, any fool with half a brain well knows that to say that Fox sucks is a massive understatement. Incredibly cynical purveyors of fascist propaganda is more like it.

    Posted by davidmintz at 04/30/2009 @ 3:47pm

  19. No one with half a brain would take those jokers seriously. I can't imagine watching that crap everyday.

Let Texas and the rest of them secede and see if all the yahoos will take care of anyone but the rich folk.

    Posted by lmozlin at 04/30/2009 @ 7:01pm

  20. Dear David, Speaking of spelling, I believe its f-o-r rather than f-o-t. (second paragraph second word) Have you any idea what the meaning of Fascism is? Webster gives us this: 1. often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition 2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality -- J. W. Aldridge> WOW sounds like Obama huh? Any one who critiques Obama is called a racist, Severe economic and social regimentation? Obama tells the car industry to fire a CEO, Social Regimentation? Read all the insults above, any republican is a buffoon, a yahoo or uneducated. The whole nation MUST become liberals for only the liberals are socially correct. Forcible suppression of opposition? what about the liberal movement to ban right wing talk radio? Heck, what about all the comments here about just one station! One station out of how many?? What is it you guys are afraid of? What a double standard the liberals have.

    Posted by jamesTaggart at 04/30/2009 @ 9:21pm

  21. James, By your own choice of definitions it seems you've strengthened the case for calling the Bush administration fascist. Though I hate debasing the vocabulary of politics with that kind of loose name-calling, the Bush White house certainly mainifested a "tendency toward, or actual exercise of, strong autocratic...control." From abrogating international treaties, to signing statements claiming a right to ignore laws he didn't like, to the claim that as commander-in-chief of the army he was authorized to do pretty much what he wanted during this "war" on terror, Bush certainly laid claim to more power than any President since Roosevelt in the great depression. (Difference being the Supreme Court actually trimmed FDR's sails in fairly short order.) I think Dick Cheney made no bones about the degree of power he thought the executive branch should weild and I don't know of many analysts on any side that dispute the fact that the Bush admin usurped a huge amount of power. Opinions may differ on whether that was good or bad but not on the fact that it happened.

  22. As far as television news ratings go, well of course those of us who read are doing that, and everyone else is watching television, so of course FOX is getting high ratings.

I am flabbergasted that people are calling Obama fascist. Bush was the one who first asked taxpayers to shell out billions without saying where it was going. Does anyone remember the Patriot Act? Wiretapping? A war we can't win, or afford?

I'm so glad I got rid of television.

    Posted by aristotle at 05/01/2009 @ 09:55am

  23. There is a good reason that more people watch Fox than all the other networks put together. They are speaking what the country actually thinks. The MSM never vetted Obama at all they were too busy swooning at how cool he was. They are in the same catagory as People Magazine and no one even expects real news or anything unbiased any more from them. Obama went to Europe with Rev. Wright's GD America and committed all knd of gaffes while there. Blaming others and especially all those who fought and died in Europe is inexcusable.People come here from all over the world for the freedom to start a business, be as successful pass it to their kids and live the American dream. They do not now want to support those who did not stay in school, did not work, made a lifetime of seeking public help and bought houses they knew they could not afford. Obama's "spread the wealth" to these people is not going down well here. When hard working people lose their job due to the economy, then they should get help but there are millions who were taught by Acorn to game the system the organization that Obama worked with. They were given million in the stimulus package to do more of the same.

  24. I find it curious that so many leftist feel the need to constantly remind everyone how intelligent they are. Is it intelligent when someone does not agree with your views to bash them by refering to them with mean and degrading names? Are these self described intelligent people back in the school yard arguing with their friends and calling them bad names because they havn't yet learned how to communicate in an adult language.

It's time to grow up and add some more adult language to your vocabulary. The contrast is so obvious between the lefts and rights. Can you lefty's get your point accross without the angry name calling and start using some language that will let us at least think you are as intelligent as you are telling us you are. Clean up your act.

    Posted by Barbryczak at 05/01/2009 @ 12:06pm

  25. Barbryczak, KUDOS TO YOU!! Like Aristotle's remark about being able to read. The left come off as arrogant and snobbish. If one were to look at areas across America that are poor, under educated, and high in crime they will find these areas have long histories of democrat leadership. I live in NYC and I know that in the South Bronx, Harlem (East and West), Bed-Sty, and any other poor area you will find that the dems have ruled for decades and there has never been an improvement in poverty or education standards. Why is that? If they can't help the South Bronx and they had decades to do it, how do they expect to help a nation in four years? Signed, James , Health Professional, College Grad AND Republican!

    Posted by jamesTaggart at 05/01/2009 @ 9:50pm

  26. I didn't call anyone anything, and I know plenty about being poor, and I know plenty about the ineffectiveness of the Democrats.

Which is not what I was talking about, I was just saying it is too bad people rely on so much from television. It has been said many times, by people including Richard Nixon, that real political answers cannot come from the way things are done on television.

FOX's high ratings have nothing to do with whether it is effective, clear, or meaningful.

    Posted by aristotle at 05/01/2009 @ 11:36pm

  27. Fox is why I don't watch TV any longer...
