McCain: Upload Your Joe The Plumber Video

When it comes to Joe The Plumber, it will get worse before it gets better. The McCain campaign is not letting Joe go.

On Monday, in fact, McCain launched a new Internet competition for supporters to explain how they are most like Joe The Plumber. Seriously.

"How are you like Joe The Plumber?" asks a new campaign email, directing people to the website www.johnmccain.com/Joe, and promising that the best video submitted "could end up on the air as a TV ad."

Could indeed. Considering that the McCain campaign doesn't even put many of its own ads on TV -- instead promoting "web ads" to draw media coverage and save money -- competitors should be warned that their entries may be limited to YouTube and press coverage. Then again, that kind of coverage was enough to make the original Joe a household name.

   Most Americans are NOT like the fictional "Joe the Plumber" who makes over $250,000 a year.

   Most Americans are NOT the real Joe the Plumber either, who advertises services as a plumber without having a plumber's license, and has tax liens on his house for failing to to pay taxes that are owed.

3. 250K/year???? According to my research, less than 3% of American households earn $250,000 + a year. Any 'Joe' making $250,000 who believes he gets first divvies on ALL that dough before his lenders and the tax man sounds like a dubious poster boy for the GOP. Or come to think of it, with corporate welfare, 700 billion bailouts, and $3trillion wars, maybe there is deeper truth that what appears on the surface. Who is getting a free ride here at the expense of 'the taxpayer?'
