Palin on Ron Paul: "Right On!'

posted by John Nichols on 08/30/2008 @ 2:07pm

In a February interview with MTV, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin lavished praise on maverick Republican presidential contender Ron Paul.

She had a few nice things to say about another GOP candidate, Mitt Romney.

But Palin made no mention of John McCain.

Now that McCain is the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, he has selected Palin as his prospective running-mate for vice president.

McCain calls Palin his political "soul-mate."

But, in February, at a point when McCain was closing in on the Republican nomination, it sure sounded like she was sweet on Paul.

The governor, who sported a Pat Buchanan pin at a 1999 rally for the renegade Republican presidential candidate (Pat says: "She's a great choice for the base ... She's a Buchananite"), described the anti-war, libertarian-leaning congressman from Texas as "cool."

"He's a good guy," she continued. "He's so independent. He's independent of the party machine. I'm like, ‘Right on, so am I.'"

Conveniently, Paul -- who refuses to endorse McCain -- will be holding an outside-the-convention "Rally for the Republic," which is expected to draw thousands of his ardent supporters to the Target Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday.

Perhaps Palin will join them.

Or is she now with the party machine?

You can't be serious. Now liking the same people you do qualifies her to be president if the old man keels? What is this a middle-school student council election?

  10. Please friends..... Yes; she is more of what we want Washington to be comprised of. Yes she is suing The Federal Government (she has guts), BUT.... She was chosen for us, ( The last conservatives), she is just a figure head, just a mom to 5 kids (for the sheer compatition value to the Obamas), just meant to sit up there, look pretty and conservative and draw us in, conflict us and throw us off course. She will not have the power that Cheney has, she is just bait!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong , I like her too, there is virtually no dirt on her record, but this is not about like, we have all graduated from H.S. Just remember she is just a tool (no matter how good her intentions are, she will be bound and shackled in her position as vice, and as dead as McCrazy looks he is still #1 in charge. Stick to your moral high ground, do not stray. Ron Paul Write in 2008
