Michelle Obama Speaks Again in Denver (LIVE VIDEO)

posted by Ari Melber on 08/26/2008 @ 05:47am

Michelle Obama's elegant convention speech wowed Democrats last night, but she's not done.

Ms. Obama is speaking this afternoon at an EMILY's List gala "celebrating women's unity," along with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Hillary Clinton, at 2pm (that's 3pm EST). This year's convention has the broadcast reach of C-SPAN on steroids -- most programs are streamed live online, even the "VIP" events that are hard for delegates to enter. The Internet Director for EMILY's List, Emily Lockwood (no relation!), just sent bloggers a video stream for readers who want to watch the gala live. "The EMILY's List event shows the unity and power of women moving into November -- we want the online community and supporters who cannot be here to share in this historic event," she told The Nation.

Ms. Obama also appeared with Sen. Joe Biden on an economic round table today, focusing on the challenges for "working women." She highlighted "mothers struggling to make ends meet because their salaries aren't keeping up with the cost of groceries," while the campaign unveiled a "12-page blueprint" for an "Obama/Biden plan to help women balance work and family, keep themselves and their families healthy, and prosper in a changing economy."

  1. And wait til we start talking up Obama's association with Bill Ayers, unrepentant domestic terrorist - and Obama retaliates by trying to censor media outlets trying to get the truth out...funny how he never seems to denounce his former colleagues who, like Jeremiah Wright, only seem to be abhorrent when they become inconvenient....

DENVER (AP) - Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 "Swift Boat" campaign. "

"What about the big farmer and the big grocery store down the street...I know berrys shouldn't cost $6 for 6 ozs....I need a check.."

Hmmmm...'Vote for a Democrat - Get a Check!' Maybe you should suggest that to them? We had a guy on here yesterday who just SWORE that he was owed a good chunk of that offshore oil money. Because he EXISTS, I guess. Can't really blame him, the Dems kind of foster that attitude of entitlement.

  5. The Demo-socialist goal has always been to get to the point where 50% of the voters pay no taxes at all. Then the gravy train will steam on and on...

  6. Obama campaign responds to Bill Ayers ad - by threatening prosecution! Cool! How dare they attack the Messiah!

"Silencing Citizens Should Concern Us All by Grim at August 26, 2008 3:50 PM

It is unfortunate to see the Obama campaign moving to silence political speech by citizens during an election. Their attempt to get the Justice Department to investigate and prosecute a 501c4 for daring to mention Obama's relationship with Ayers is un-American.

There is blame to go around: though I am personally opposed to Sen. Obama's candidacy, in fairness it is proper to note that Sen. McCain authored a number of the restrictions on American political speech being used by Sen. Obama. We can even go further, and point out the claims by Sen. McCain's campaign manager of outrageous attacks by then-Gov. Bush's campaign, that allegedly slandered him and his adopted daughter in the hope of playing on racist feeling in the electorate. Neither President Bush, who signed the law, nor Sen. McCain, who wrote the law, nor Sen. Obama, who used the law to silence American citizens, none of them should escape our wrath.

On this matter, all Americans -- and all bloggers, regardless of affiliation -- should have a sense of unity. The Founding Fathers wrote the protections of the First Amendment for free speech and the press. They had political speech foremost in their thoughts when they did so. The freedom to speak about elections, candidates, and issues of concern was exactly what they were seeking to protect.

We have come to a time in America when our political class wants desperately to silence American citizens. They want to speak only to each other: let Sen. McCain's campaign say what it wants, but no mere citizen should dare to do so, lest they face criminal prosecution!"

  8. Michelle is incredible. Her speech last night was amazing. She is authentic, intelligent, witty and beautiful inside and out both.

Clinton knocked it out of the ball park tonight. I was really proud of her.

She asked her supporters to ask whether they, "Were in this campaign just for me?" Or for the mother with 2-autistic children who was diagnosed with cancer and no health insurance? etc...

McCain has 1 constant: out of 134 women's issues from abortion to equal pay McCain voted against 125 times.

So any woman who votes for McCain not only votes against her best interests she is also voting against the best interests of the country.

The next President will inherit a stalled Middle-East peace process, instability in Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, a declining economy, healthcare crisis, foreclosures, corporate influence, a politicized Department of Justice, and so on and so forth...

Electing McCain will make things worse because he does not know how to fix those things muchless want to. He would rather destroy government than make it work. Government is supposed to be for the people, by the people. Therefore when disasters hit like Katrina we need the government to be prepared. We need a Justice system that upholds the rule of law which means being independent from politics. He thinks the economy is in good shape so people are whining about nothing.

Furthermore McCain's bellicosity exacerbates animosity between international nations and distances our relations, but does not take into consideration the consequences thereof. Worse McCain believes the military solves everything.

This election is about the future. With McCain, there won't be a future for your children or their children, your grandchildren.
