Clinton Rebuffs RNC's Hillary Happy Hour

posted by Ari Melber on 08/25/2008 @ 4:45pm

In a bid to party behind enemy lines, tonight the Republican National Committee is trying to woo Clinton delegates with a "Happy Hour for Hillary" reception.

The RNC announced it is picking up the tab the Paramount Cafe, a few blocks from the Democrats' convention center, so that "open-minded Democrats" may consider backing John McCain. Hillary Clinton, however, is having none of it.

"This party won't exactly make it onto the list of recommended events for Hillary Clinton's supporters," Mo Elleithee told The Nation on Monday afternoon. "Senator Clinton supports Senator Obama and is urging all of her supporters to do the same," he added.

Details:

RNC "Happy Hour For Hillary"

8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. MDT

Paramount Cafe

519 16th Street

  2. Why not Hillary supporters...he has sucked up to the religious right, big oil, and the MIC. He will say anything, do anything and be anything to get votes.

They are only covering Hillary people because they want to cause division within the Democratic party to help out McCain.

What could the RNC possibly offer Clinton delegates at their Happy Hour in Denver - our candidate is white and so is yours so why don't you vote white by voting for McCain?

It is doubtful that CNN, FOX or any mainstream news organization will be following Huckabee, Romney, or Ron Paul delegates around at all in Minnesota at the Republican convention.

Why the double standard? Surely there would be a more colorful "news story" by falling around Ron Paul delegates who have said they will NOT vote for John McCain!

  6. I love this! I think to work on the McCain campaign must be a blast!

"party behind enemy lines"....heck, that what us Cons do here day-in and day-out......except, maybe interspersed-within-enemy-lines better describes our bravery....LOL!!!

I don't think you guys are up to serious arguments in any place. But I concede Reps are masters of marketing. I mean of selling people deteriorated goods as it was gold plus diamonds. Yes, selfish people like to party with other people's money.

  7. I heard one of the "HILLARY supporters" voting for McCain.

She said "John McCain promised more women in his agencies and Cabinet!"

She failed to mention he ALSO promised "more strict Constructionalist judges and justices" aka "judges who would overturn Roe!"

This is a few nutso cultists (like FRANK) and if they DO end up costing Obama the election...

we must CREDIT them for that...every day from 2009 until the Democratic Primaries of 2012.

I'm thinking about getting into them. I tend to be a gambler. Not in the bad sense, like having a problem, I just like to play.

    Posted by Cccomfo1 at 08/25/2008 @ 8:19pm

  9. Maskdelta, if they do cost Obama the election, the defining moment will be the decision to sanction Florida and Michigan. In which case, the party will take steps to make sure that doesn't happen again, and the primaries will actually start in 2009.

  10. If they're paying for the booze I'm in.

I don't think there's enough Budweiser in Cindy McCain's warehouses to get me to vote for her husband.

  11. that they won't allow him to make serious mistakes because Obama will always have their council.----Posted by frankgrits at 08/25/2008 @ 8:00pm

Okay, anybody else, I'd say this was a joke...but FRANK?

So, FRANK, they need to go up in front of a national TV audience and tell the American people....

"Don't worry about the kid as President...Hillary and I will stop him from screwing up!"

    LOL

Well, you're right about one thing...if they think like you do..."This is the way those supporters need to be spoken to."

Yeah, if I weren't so old I'd be totally in love again. She's got brains, quick wit, guts, very articulate, great confidence; just basically attractive all round.

And boy can she rip McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS on his hype-crittering, apart from his trying to confuse Obama's self-made elite achievements with McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' privileged life - to McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS constant use of his Hanoi Hilton stay as cover for ALL McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS many many weaknesses. She's one of the 1st to say McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS's belittling that experience and himself by using it that way sooo much.

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' defense on most of his flawed stance on issues-- 'a noun, a verb, and POW'

I do believe Rachel Maddow has got a bright future.

Why'd Hillary reject the GOP? Well, we don't vote party; instead we vote the man who better manages the country and the economy.

  20. What part of the American dream don't you like.

(Yeah I living it. Did it mostly on my own like Obama. Didn't marry it by cheating on my wife. Nor was my dad to skate my screw-ups. Not using any old tragedies to cover for any current messes I make either.)

    What part doesn't Barry like?

(That's why I identify with Obama.)

Cindy McCain's father was a WWII hero, shot down three times.

(I'm sure that's why Cindy was attracted to McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS, reminded her of her daddy. Looks just like him too,,,,Uhhmmm.)

Returned from the war and invested 10,000.00 in a brewery and built it into one of the most successful in the world.

(Wow, 10K back then was like a few mil now right? Where did he get his hands on that kinda cash I wonder... I'm pretty sure Obama's dad couldn't have borrowed that much. Maybe $10 back then.)

McCain's grandfather and father rose to Nave top brass.

    (But McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS, not so much.)

John himself distinguished himself and met Cindy as fate would have it.

(You forgat the part about both of them cheating on the sick mother of McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' children...)

Both familys made successes of themselves realizing the American dream.

(You mean both INHERITED the American dream made by their parents.)

So now because you'er in love with Barack Obama,

(I don't love Obama, I was for Al Gore. I identify with Obama and his hard work and accomplishments. Biden too, reminds me a lot of my dad.)

  21. This is why Obama can't win, because of people who have attitudes like yours and Barry's.

(A loser like you saying that others will lose... very believable.)

    I don't care about McCain's marital problems

(Except that that's what got McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' wealth, cheating on his sick wife, mother of his children. Talk about a SLEAZY character for president as compared to Obama's everyman's American story.)

  22. Well, 'er uh, I don't know how to tell you this but Rachael Maddow is gay.

    Posted by frankgrits at 08/25/2008 @ 11:28pm

A couple of my best girlfriends 'were' gay.

Naw, really, believe me, it's my age.

    Posted by hsuBfools at 08/25/2008 @ 11:34pm

  23. Well, it seems like your dad and Cindy McCain's dad and John McCain's dad all have a lot in common.

(What do things look like in your world? Apparently very different than the ones I see and write about. I clearly wrote that Biden reminded me of my dad. Which is a far cry from anything remotely close to "Cindy's or McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' dads".

Why do you not applaud success?

(I applaud hard work, inherited wealth-- not so much. And last I heard neither Cindy's or McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' dads weren't running for president...)

Is that not the American dream that all the politicians, (all rich of course) always refer to?

(No. Not all politicians are 'rich' and some more than others. Biden is one of the poorest in the senate.)

You've got blinders on my friend and because of them you are not seeing clearly.

(Clearly I see through your fog as you are obviously stuck in a POST-RATIONAL world to the very end.)

  24. Here is what Hillary needs to say to the delegates and her other supporters to get them to vote for her.

She needs to tell them that she fought the good fight and that they all have a stake in getting a democrat elected. She also needs to say this sentence. "I need all of you to do this for me because it's what I truly want and what our Country and the all Americans need."

Right! She should say that after they threw her under the bus for the affirmative action candidate. She was the Dems best hope for not only winning in November, but for showing the country they had a little depth and understanding about what this country needs. I don't think that is Hillary, but she's a lot closer to it than Obama.

"Yes, selfish people like to party with other people's money."

Hmmm... must be talking about the Dems. That's their whole platform, isn't it?

Gotta love this: So far the TV ratings for this convention are way down. The news services will be pulling out if this continues.

  25. So now because you'er in love with Barack Obama, a child of privlidge, and the mcCains and their hard work mean nothing. frankgrits

I guess to you, black is white, night is day, and every other Alice In Wonderland type of analogy applies. John McCain was raised in the lineage of naval officers, the top of the naval hierarchy. He didn't even try to do well, he just wanted to thumb his nose at authority, and at his advanced age, your type call that being a "maverick". I call that being a spoiled elderly brat.

Obama a child of privilege!! What is the opposite of Frank? .... insincere? and grits? .... hmmm ... indelicate?

Thanks for the advice. With the way lenders are doing right now I would wait until they bottomed out and the economy stabilized. Then invest in them let them go back up when people start using credit again.

At this point, FRANK is in full "Big Lie" mode (a la his mentor Rush).

McCain son of an admiral and grandson of an admiral, who MARRIED money with Cindy...who INHERITED her money...are paradigms of "hard work"...

while Obama who grew up middle class and worked his way to college was "priveleged".
