It may be true that Dan Senor hardly ever got anything right when he served as military spokesman for "Coalition of the Willing" forces in Baghdad during the period when things began going from bad to worse.
But, presumably, the man who spun the occupation as a success at precisely the moment it was degenerating into disaster knows a thing or two about the thinking of his old comrade-in-arms, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, with regard to the Republican vice presidential nomination.
Noting that Rice recently appeared at a gathering of right-wing Republicans organized by anti-government crusader Grover Norquist, Senor said Sunday on ABC News' "This Week With George Stephanopoulos that the former Bush administration national security adviser is now jockeying for the No. 2 spot of John McCain's GOP ticket.
"Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this," claimed Senor.
Rice has consistently claimed she has no interest in the presidency or the vice presidency and McCain said on Sunday that if Rice is sending signals he has "missed" them.
But senator from Arizona certainly didn't sound like he was ruling Rice out.
Of the woman who neglected to explain to President Bush the importance of a pre-9/11 intelligence briefing that suggested Osama bin Laden's followers intended to attack the United States, and who later claimed on the basis of no apparent evidence that a failure to attack Iraq would put the U.S. in danger of nuclear attack, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said on Sunday: "her overall record is very, very meritorious."
"I think she's a great American," argued McCain. "I think there's very little that I can say that isn't anything but the utmost praise for a great American citizen, who served as a role model to so many millions of people in this country and around the world."
Sounds like a match made in neo-con heaven... or in that corner of hell where a hundred-year war, er, occupation, seems like an attractive prospect.

Condi running for VP won't be enough to sway black folk to the Republican side. She still is closely connected to George Bush. Colin Powell had a better chance. He was always thought of as the most honest in the room. maybe the man/woman thing. In either case, she would be a good VP. She's very knowledgeable. I just didn't trust her judgement in pushing Iraq to the forefront when I was all for getting OBL in Afghanistan. Anyway, it'll look like a token pick to most. I'd rather have her as the NFL commish. It's been a while, but I'm back to say . . . No Condi, no way.
The GOP is an exclusive club, after all. They don't let just anyone take up residence there. Please remember that when it was merely hinted that Colin Powell might run for the GOP nomination in 1994 he was greeted with death threats against him and all his family from GOP loyalists who then and now hold a strong position in the Nixon/Jim Crow tradition of the GOP "Southern Strategy." Do you think they will be any more tolerant just because Condi is placed #2 on the ticket, a heartbeat from the top job? No, no, no, no. She's okay for cleaning up after Bushy Boy's messes, like a "good Negro charwoman," but not a top political post. Never.
Here is yet another in my series of bullet-proof Nostradamian predictions: John McCain & Charlie Christ will be the GOP ticket in 2008. Bank on it. What's not to love? How can you top "WAR HERO" & "CHRIST" on the same lapel pin? This will make the right wingers salivate like Pavlov's dogs. (Besides, they're two white men, both with white hair. Perfecto!) Jesus & Johnny Mac in 2008!!! Hallelujah! Amen. May they reign for a 1000 years (in the Green Zone, anyway).
Posted by goyadad at 04/07/2008 @ 3:32pm
I hope that Condi does get chosen for the VP slot. Just imagine what that will do to all the racists who are the true base of the Republican Party. The poor bastards will poop in their pants everytime they contemplate voting for a McCain/Rice ticket. They already despise McCain for his sin of not being all the way on the psychotic end of the right wing spectrum, but to have a BLACK WOMAN one heartbeat away from the presidency would be too much to bear.
But seriously, folks, placing Condi on the ticket sounds like stupidity squared. She has built a solid reputation as a warmongering, incompetent sycophant. To think that she will draw significant numbers of blacks and women away from Barack Obama is delusional.

Try not to be so quick to scream racist next time you are starting to sound like everything you call liberals.
Also funny that you say all liberals are racist. You make me chuckle at your ridiculousness. Keep flailing and maintaining your narrow-minded view of the world that everything is one way. That all liberals are racist and horrible and all conservatives are amazing and intelligent, because it makes you sound real intelligent when you say that to a people who aren't brainwashed.

"true racists at the heart of the Republican Party"? Living out here - out of NY that is - in Detroit, all I have to do is go to some local union hall (reliably democratic this time around) to find legions of racists. Also, as depressing as it might sound to you, most Americans don't want the war in Iraq to deterioriate more, most don't want the "troops home now," and if Bush were to run again, I'm not sure he couldn't beat either Clinton or Obama. Perhaps depressing, but that's life in this shithole.
Man, take a Prozac, please. Bush has the lowest approval ratings in modern history, and Cheney's are even lower. 81% of the people think the country is moving in the wrong direction. This is a very bad time to be a Republican politician. Bush could not win a contest for dogcatcher in most American cities. (Actually, he's as unqualified for that job as he is for President of the United States.)
On the racism issue: Sure, there are racist Democrats, but it is the Republican Party that has based its election strategy upon racism for the past 30 years. Their so-called "southern strategy" is merely code for appealing to racist voters in southern states in order to secure enough electoral votes win the presidency. Well, guess what? That strategy is about to fail big-time. Poor Condi. If she truly wants to be the vice presidential candidate, it must come from some subconscious desire to be publicly humiliated and punished for her many sins.

Condi Rice will not subject herself to the scrutiny of the Vice-Presidential position for one simple reason: she will have to have her personal life scrutinized. And there are more than a few rumors that Condi prefers the company of women. I personally would love to have a lesbian in the White House somewhere but as that won't win any love from the Christian Right she's better off staying in the background and accepting retirement.

Condi Rice only looks good as a VP "on paper". Superficially, one can say she is a woman and black, and could therefore draw votes away from Democrats. Upon closer examination, however, she is just another Republican hack WHO DOES WHAT SHE IS TOLD TO DO! She has not ONE idea of her own that she has pursued, and has been virtually ignored by all of the "real" players in the Bush Administration.
Her belated bid to bring peace to Middle East illustrates the fundamental political weakness of Condi Rice. Waiting until the final year of the second term to negotiate a major peace deal with Israel and the Palestianians, which should have been negotiated in the "first" year of the first term, and caving in to right-wing Likud demands that democratically elected Hamas be excluded from the negotiations, shows a lack of political ability, insight and strength.
Condi Rice is very much "a token black" in a Republican administration, much like "Silent Sam" - Samuel Pierce - who was groomed by party elders to be the quiet one who simply goes along with the agenda pushed by others in exchange for "prominence" as a black face in the circles of Republican power.

Condi is Chevron OIL corporation's whore...
Condi is Bush's whore...
Now, Condi wants to be McCain's whore...
Condi is nothing more than a neo-con whore-- willing to betray 'We the People' for the sake of self-promotion & wealth...
What has Condi accomplished in her pathetic term in office:
1.) As the worst National Security Adviser in our nation's history-- she fondled her "husband" Bush, the neo-con nitwit, whilst choking on pretzels, and ignorning warnings that our nation was about to be attacked on 9/11;
2.) As the "Head of the Iraqi Stabilization Group" appointed by her dim-witted "hubby" in October 2003, Rice went on a shopping spree for shoes & high-fashion, whilst supporting the torture, rape & murder of innocent Iraqis & Afghanistanis -- and whilst Iraq devolved into chaos;
3.) As an incompetent Secretary of State-- Rice is obsessed with photo-ops, whilst looking clownish in her fashion-victim outfits, Rice has pandered to the neo-fascist Likud party & gotten free around-the-world trips on the taxpayer's "dime" [sic]-- and, has accomplished nothing. Rice is the laughing stock of the diplomatic corps-- and considered a clown by world leaders who joke about her self-aggrandizement in private.
Rice should be put on trial for treason along with her pimps:-- Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, et. al.-- all traitors and creeps.
The corporate-owned media toadies may salivate because they are not that bright-- and love the fact that a black woman wears expensive clothes-- but they are ignorant of her incompetence, corruption, and sheer sluttishness.
The thought of slut-Rice & senile-McCain should be cause for Americans to shudder.

Refer to:--
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/ABC_Bush_advisors_had_role_in_0409.html
..."...President George W. Bush's most senior advisers approved "enhanced interrogation techniques" of top al-Qaeda suspects by the Central Intelligence Agency, ABC News reported on Wednesday (see video below), citing sources it did not name.
ABC reported that the so-called "principals" discussed interrogation details in dozens of top-secret talks and meetings in the White House.
Then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice chaired the meetings, which took place in the White House Situation Room and were typically attended by a select group of senior officials or their deputies, ABC said.
"Highly placed sources said a handful of top advisers signed off on how the CIA would interrogate top al Qaeda suspects -- whether they would be slapped, pushed, deprived of sleep or subjected to simulated drowning, called waterboarding," ABC reported.
In addition to Rice, the principals at the time included Vice President Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Colin Powell, CIA Director George Tenet and Attorney General John Ashcroft, the report said. ..."...

In the event that McCain considers Rice as VP, he should be disqualified on the grounds of derangement & senility. It's pretty obvious that he's already suffering from the latter.

Nicholas von Hoffman -- The Nation 13 February, 2008
'...With Rice on the ticket, the GOP would have somebody to get enthusiastic about. The Secretary of State is immensely popular with Republicans. For a party that up to now has been clueless about how to run against either a woman or a person of color, Condoleezza Rice is pure political gold.
Woe to any Democrat who thinks taking her on in a debate is a sure thing. The woman is tough, fast on her feet and able to give better than she gets. Anyone who has seen her in action testifying in front of a hostile House or Senate committee knows that she will be able to wipe up the floor with a plodding, ordinary pol of a Democratic vice-presidential candidate. Take Rice lightly at your peril.
In the ordinary course of things the ideal vice-presidential candidate is relied upon to carry his or her home state and keep out of trouble. With Condi the GOP gets a lot more. It gets a superstar to match the Democrats' superstars. If it comes to name recognition, glamour and magnetism for conservatives, Condi is dandy. Also, it is a plus for the GOP team that she is a snappy dresser.
Rice's presence on the ticket deprives the Democrats of the we-are-more-diverse-than-thou argument. It makes McCain--whose ethnically diverse family includes an adopted daughter from Bangladesh--an even more attractive candidate for a certain kind of independent voter. ...
With Rice on the ticket the Republicans are freed up to run a much stronger negative campaign against either Clinton or Obama because the Secretary of State provides them with cover against charges of sexism or racism. They would be able to go after Obama's membership in Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Its minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., with whom Obama is close, has won himself the militant tag from conservatives because of his association with Nation of Islam leader the Rev. Louis Farrakhan. ...'

yeah, like the American people are gonna elect one of those who swindled us into the war, which is, in case you haven't heard, deeply unpopular.
