State of Change

The Honorable Hillary

Drop in on the Draft Hillary website and you don't find much in the way of solid position papers. You might say it's a kind anti-Gore site because Big Albert, if he were running, would be laying out in detail exactly what he hopes to do and how he is planning to go about doing it. His statements would be a little snoozy, but there would be no mistaking what Big Albert is for and against. < >

If Hillary is a little vague about how she might be occupying her time after she moves back into the White House, her site does list the many awards which have come to her. They are divided into two categories.

The first category is from her First Lady or Stand By Her Man period and includes: the Elie Wiesel Foundation Humanitarian Award; Martin Luther King Jr. Award (being contested by unnamed Obama people); Family Circle Woman Who Makes a Difference Lifetime Achievement Award (Exactly what difference is currently under dispute.); National Federation of Black Women Business Owners, Black Women of Courage Award (Hillary has been designated an honorary black Woman.); National Association of Elementary School Principals Distinguished Service Award (Hillary has also been designated an honorary elementary school principal.); Save the Children Distinguished Service Award and the Irish American Peace Prize, by Irish American Democrats (and we'll raise a glass to that!).

The second category lists awards bestowed on her since she has been a United States Senator. Note that kiddie thing is de-emphasized in favor of the war thing on this list which includes: The Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service (Did she get that one from Rummy himself? And what service did she perform or dare we ask?); Senator of the Year, National Multiple Sclerosis Society; The Military Order of the Purple Heart, in recognition of her initiative and perseverance in assisting the Military Order of the Purple Heart (Huh?); National Hispanic Medical Association, for leadership in improving the health of Hispanics; Woman of Steel Role Model of the Year, United Steel Workers of America (Does she really want to brag on that one?)...< http://www.votehillary.org/CMS/Bio>

Members of the National Association For the Suppression of Flag Burning and Otherwise Desecrating National Emblems have twice nominated her for their Red, White and Blue Prize, but Hillary is trying to talk them out of it or at least get them to wait until the primaries are over.

  1. Honorary President.

We could even refer to her as "mum" if she wants.

  2. Officials said Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of the leadership had decided to strip from a major military spending bill a requirement for Bush to gain approval from Congress before moving against Iran.

Conservative Democrats as well as lawmakers concerned about the possible impact on Israel [tinyurl.com] had argued for the change in strategy.

Way to go, Democrats. Pay attention to your real constituents, not the saps who supply 98% of the votes that keep you in Congress.

  3. Since Hillary is an honorary black woman, guess that trumps Condi as being the first serious black woman presidential candidate....

And, that would make Hillbillary America's first married black presidential couple..(honorary, of course)

Still, it's kind of comical to see how each constituency, no matter how small or insignificant, is given it's due and is individually is targeted by the dems, such as teachers for Hillary, musicians for Hillary, Librarians for Hillary (ok, I made that one up) pets for Hillary, etc, etc.......

Only a matter of time, though, before she breaks a real barrier and recognizes....White Men for Hillary........(a very, very small constitutency, indeed....)

Let me make sure I have this right. Is your argument actually that the impact of a policy on Israel, particularly if we're talking about war in the Middle East, is inconsequential?

LOL! He "peeked" (as he always does) and it was about him saying something inane like politicians don't pay attention to their "real constituents" but to the "98% who get them elected".

  15. "Forty percent of Republicans said they expected Democrats to take control of the White House next year, compared with 46 percent who said they believed a Republican would win. Just 12 percent of Democrats said they thought the opposing party would win the White House.

Asked what was more important to them in a nominee, a commitment to stay in Iraq until the United States succeeds or flexibility about when to withdraw, 58 percent of self-identified Republican primary voters said flexibility versus 39 percent who said a commitment to stay. The three leading Republican candidates are strong supporters of the war and the increase in American troops there."-NYT

Cut and Run republicans. Defeatist republicans.

  16. And by a 20-point margin, respondents said that if the election were held today they would vote for an unnamed Democrat for president rather than a Republican.

    HHAHAHA.

ooh, wait, that still leave us with dems. Oh well, better corrupt dems than pedophile corrupt traitorous repubs.

Will Old School conservatives please stand up and reclaim your party form the American Taliban.

  17. MAASCH, from Michael Schwarz:

There is plenty of dispute over the accuracy of this charge, but if the Iranians are supplying sophisticated IEDs, it's to the Shia insurgents (even the U.S. military admits to that); and the U.S. is not (currently) fighting the Shia insurgents, it's fighting Sunni insurgents, who hate Iran just as much as -- possibly more than -- the U.S. However, this accusation is most often stripped of this critical "detail" in the media (especially on the TV news). Therefore, the impression is left that a large proportion of American casualties are somehow being caused by Iranian technology. That, too, is absurd.

    Posted by crabwalk at 03/13/2007 @ 08:44am

  18. Well, CRAB....given the subject of this thread...

I guess we have a pretty good idea who that "unnamed Democrat" is going to be...huh?

    Posted by Mask at 03/13/2007 @ 09:08am

  19. So what we have on Hillary's website is a bunch of awards she's been given, not ones she has necessarily earned, but no actual positions on the issues? John Edwards has laid out a more or less specific health care proposal, Dennis Kucinich flat out tells you where he stands on all the issues, and I'm sure most of the other candidates have got at least token positions up on their sites by now. What is Mrs. Clinton afraid of?

    Posted by ARCHANGEL_M at 03/13/2007 @ 09:24am

  20. None of this matters...Hillary will end up with the nomination..this has been planned for too long to let some clown come along and screw this up....Obama may end up as # 2, the rest may have already lost...

    HHAHAHA.

    Posted by CRABWALK 03/13/2007 @ 08:31am

I saw that yesterday - that's precious. Republicans who would vote for ANY Democrat have a 20-point margin over Republicans who wouldn't. Does that give us the measure of the ultra-rightist Republicans posting here, or what?

Let's also ask why the Democratic Party elite continues to maintain the fiction that they have to swing right to capture Republican votes. ANY Democrat. Case closed.

Case reopened. The reality, anyway, is that the swing vote necessary to win resides among the independents who are already solidly anti-Republican after six years of Republicans f'ng up America.

    Posted by CRABWALK 03/13/2007 @ 08:44am

The evidence is that the advanced IED's are manufactured right in Iraq. It's amazing how a CPA officer will admit that then a day or two later some CPA military flunky will issue a statement accusing Iran. Guess which one is going to get promoted?
