Presidential Politics
By The Nation
In a recent Notion post Sam Graham-Felsen argues that Barack Obama "is by far the political superstar of the moment--and perhaps ever--for Generation Y." And on October 22, the Illinois Senator told Meet the Press that he was considering a presidential run in 2008. Should Barack Obama run for President?

What's Going On?
By The Nation
We're hoping to generate, and contribute to, some useful and interesting conversation this year. But, to be frank, we're not sure exactly what's on people's minds. So we're hoping people can let us know what some of the big issues on campus are this year. Where are progressive organizations focusing their energies? What events and protests are taking place? What are campus publications and blogs writing about?

Summertime
By The Nation
Summer's here, and many students will be taking time off from classes to work, play, organize, read, write, travel and sleep! Some will be starting internships, embarking on work-study programs, volunteering their services for charitable organizations or immersing themselves in artistic endeavors. What will you be doing this summer and why?

The Youth Vote
By The Nation
A recent poll by DoSomething.org of over 6,000 students aged 12 to 24 determined that 54 percent of respondents supported lowering the minimum voting age to 17. John Anderson, the 1980 independent presidential candidate, who is currently teaching constitutional law, says 16 year olds should have the franchise. In a 1991 Nation article, Vita Wallace, then aged 16, advocated eliminating the age limit entirely. What do you think the voting age should be and why?

What Does Coke Mean to You?
By The Nation
In Michael Blanding's May 1st Nation cover story, he reports on the Campaign to Stop Killer Coke. Notably, a spokesperson for Coca Cola attributed the impetus behind this campaign to "a small segment of the student population." Indeed, pressure from student groups who cite the soft-drink giant's human rights and environmental abuses has led to boycotts of Coca Cola by several college campuses. What does Coke mean to students at your school?

Notably, a spokesperson for Coca Cola attributed the impetus behind this campaign to "a small segment of the student population." Indeed, pressure from student groups who cite the soft-drink giant's human rights and environmental abuses has led to boycotts of Coca Cola by several college campuses. Years ago, parents and students who considered soft drinks a health threat resisted attempts by companies such as Coca Cola to cultivate a presence at high schools--a controversy that was eventually dubbed the "Cola Wars." What does Coke mean to students at your school?

The Tyranny of Student Debt
By The Nation
How many people turn away from low-paying but vital professions because they can't earn enough to pay back their student loans? Judging from the responses elicited by Nicholas von Hoffman's new article, the answer is that many people do. Do you think you're paying, or you paid, too much for your student loan? If so, how has that affected your life-choices.

Whither the Student Left
By The Nation
Sam Graham-Felsen's Nation cover story looked at the issues that are beginning to define the new student left. A big question: Can a new student movement that doesn't actively take on the war in Iraq make any real headway?
