Damned If You Do

This is really great. Remember how the McCain campaign hit Obama for not visiting the wounded troops? Turns out:

What the McCain campaign doesn't want people to know, according to one GOP strategist I spoke with over the weekend, is that they had an ad script ready to go if Obama had visited the wounded troops saying that Obama was...wait for it...using wounded troops as campaign props. So, no matter which way Obama turned, McCain had an Obama bashing ad ready to launch. I guess that's political hardball. But another word for it is the one word that most politicians are loathe to use about their opponents--a lie.

All campaigns are a little dishonest, but McCain campaign is really outdoing itself.

  1. HAHAHAHAHA, These are the things that aren't supposed to get out. Jesus. A bunch of amateurs on that boat. If McCain keeps making things like this happen i will have to give Happ 20:1 odds.

  2. "that his campaign was advised by the Pentagon that since Obama was on a campaign trip and spending campaign resources, it would be viewed as using the wounded as props whether cameras were allowed in the hospital or not."

    Exactly what I said.

  3. "Hannity went into the tank again the same night that former White House press secretary Scott McClellan told MSNBC's Chris Matthews that the White House does, in fact, provide Hannity and other Fox News and on-air talent their daily and weekly policy "talking points." We knew that, but it's nice to hear someone admit it who was in on the transaction."

And they say Fox News isn't biased.

  5. "Reporters were not allowed to accompany him when he visited wounded troops at Walter Reed Medical Center on June 28. The small "protective pool" of reporters that routinely accompanies him was told by Obama's staff to remain outside, in the van, according to a reporter covering the campaign. Similarly, Obama visited wounded troops in Baghdad earlier in his overseas trip, but he did so without reporters and "without a lot of fanfare, just to say 'Thanks'," according to Democratic Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, who accompanied Obama. "

Sounds like the activities of a man who hates out country and our troops to me. Burn the terrorist!

  9. "Given the seriousness of the issues, you'd think we could have a serious debate," Obama said. "But so far, all we've been hearing about is Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. I mean, I do have to ask my opponent, is that the best you can come up with? Is that really what this election is about? Is that what is worthy of the American people?"

That is how you respond to these things. Just turn the attacks around to make the opponent look like a foolish child.

  10. Chris , love seeing you on Olbermann!! You've more facts and fire in you than just about the entire Democratic Congress.

To your point, when you can't even hear a Republican Congressman/Wanker, on the floor of the house, speak to the nationwide benefits of passing a new Higher Education Bill without launching into a creepy discussion of "the potential abuse the old bill had to aid in the education of child molesters, because they too may may be trying to improve their math skills... and are instead using that grant money ..to buy...and then they take those and .. have sex, and take the children and ..."

WTF is wrong with Keller?? What the hell is Keller talking about -or thinking??

Keller(R) of Florida, took a great bi -partisan accomplishment and turned it a Pat Robertson horror story. Everything they touch turns into garbage.

If Obama and the true voices of the party like you could focus on one blanket statement/answer -to describe the fact that behind the 'experienced ' and elderly maverick MCain is a horde of hungry little neocons that not one should again fall sucker to - rather than this petty bickering, Obqama would be kicking more ass and scoring some ballsy points.

Remember Blair was brought down in part, if you remember, by the constant chant of "You can't believe a word he says" . T That was a catchy statement Blair's opposition used for everything - to a great victory.

  11. It looks like we are in for another Karl Rove type of campaign by McCain and the Republicans.

The good news is after we defeat Rovian divisive politics-of-distraction in this election, Karl Rove will completely lose his political standing in the Republican party and he will probably end up in prison as well.

Let's gear up and beat Rove once and for all!

Uhh you assume because I call you Happ I take after Mask? I didn't even know what Mask called you. I called you Happ because I was laughing. I will pay more attention to what he calls you now so I don't accidently fit into his mold. What an asinine way of assuming someone has taken after someone else. Will calling Frosty, FZ make me something? Or how about calling Lvliberty, LVL. I shortened your name because I felt like shortening it not because I have some stupid group think mentality.

  17. IF "mccain is beginning to look really desperate" to you Magicbots, he must be doing something right.....LOL!!! Posted by 2HAPPY at 07/31/2008 @ 4:11pm

Why is that right? It's not just Obama supporters who think he looks desperate. It's his own supporters who are starting to take a second glance. Apparently his own supporters are starting to think he is looking desperate too. I guess trying to alienate your own supporters is the right thing to do?

  19. With every turn that McBush takes... I'm left wondering if his campaign is being run by Homer Simpson. The choices and the incredible screwups made are hysterically funny. "Old man yells at cloud."

2HAPPY or HA! (as I might start calling him...heheh)....just flailing around.

He really can't respond directly to this as it shows that McCain IS desperate and was ready to attack Obama EITHER way ...and therefore is disengenuous in the attack he IS using now.

And he really can't respond to guys like John Weaver, former McCain strategist and STILL a McCain supporter and Republican, who is calling the new "Britney/Paris/Barack" ad "childish".

What does HA! do? Claim Weaver is a "liberal" or an "Obamabot"?!?!?!!

    heheh
