One Republican Ticket: Eleven Houses

posted by John Nichols on 08/30/2008 @ 09:22am

ST. PAUL -- George Bush promised America "an ownership society... where more Americans than ever will be able to open up their door where they live and say, welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

And the Republican ticket of 2008 realizes that promise.

Presidential candidate John McCain and newly-selected vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin can open up their doors where they live and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

Then they can open the next door and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

Then they can open the next door and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

Then they can open the next door and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

Then they can open the next door and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

Then they can open the next door and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

Then they can open the next door and say: "welcome to my house, welcome to my piece of property."

While Palin cannot compete with McCain's eight home record, she's got three domiciles.

According to the governor of Alaska's 2007 financial disclosure form, Palin and her husband own a primary residence and two vacation properties.

Add the White House and the vice presidential residence at the Naval Observatory and the combined total will be thirteen.

That would be a lucky number for the McCain and Palin.

Bush ownership society is working for the Republican ticket.

But with as many as two million American families facing foreclosures and with tens of millions more worrying about whether they will ever have a home to call their own, the McCain-Palin campaign's pledge to carry Bush's "ownership society" by obtaining homes number twelve and thirteen for the candidates sounds like an unlucky bet for America.

  1. Well, I'm sure Governor Palin knows a lot about foreclosures....

given all the economic problems of Alaska she's solved.

  2. So let's see, with this choice, McCain has simultaneously negated his two main thrusts at Obama - lack of experience and elitism AND made his own age an overriding factor in the election.

It's said that it's better to be lucky than to be good; that being said, I hope BO still turns loose his wolf (Joe Biden) on the repubs.

  3. Oh, and I failed to mention corruption and abuse of power; between the Keating 5 and Palin's ex brother-in-law, it's going to be nasty.

And since Palin smoked at little of the ganja herself, it's going to be hard to paint BO as a dope smoking slacker.

  4. Palin is the Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Veep.

McCain might have done better had he announced that the veep slot was to be handed out on the day after the election to the writer of the best essay and who voted for McCain --please include photo.

Making craven political choices on issues of importance is a dirty habit.

  6. OH COME ON--McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' only reason for ever re-creating himself into the 'MAV' persona relenting up to 2000-- will be totally removed once the new con repubs for continued bent over dic'tatorship get him into their 13th; our #1.

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' 'Keating 5' exposure forced him into a "RE-DO" story line if he wanted to ever move on up the repub gravy train. But the new con repub for bending over for a dic'tatorship movemwnt, deflated McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS fanatasy of advancing on our #1 mansion. Thus the 'MAV' caved in and goose-stepped right along in a new con repub dic'tatorship daisy-chain lubricated with the big corporate oil MIC.

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' big problem is that there's still enough of the USA public that have not been dumbed down even by new con repub dic'tator re-education to forget McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' continually self-absorbed manipulative history.

  7. McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS wants a re-re-re-do.

By adding Palin to the ticket he wants to con-obfuscate his story with hers.

And say he never had the habitual cheater gene.

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS is saying don't look at anything but his attempt at 'remaking' his old and new cheating 'his'tory'; which makes Obama look great by comparison.

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS story is sooo weak he's reaching out to another young pretty woman to bail him out. And a one night stand and she's footing the bill to-boot!

Why can't McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS pay for anything on his own?

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS got a YOU OWE ME thing of privilege ever since he was a brat kid and with the POW story line instead of making him more sensitive to stopping the use of torture, he supports hsuB/cHeney admin's use of it and only reinforced his YOU OWE ME thing.

McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS gets into the WH, the middle class will be footing more of his bomb bomb bomb bomb bill.

  8. McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS gets into our White House and all the reasons for him ONCE, 7 years ago, being the 'MAV' are gone.

Just because Palin is a current mini-MAV way up in melting permafrost Alaska, we cannot let the McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' campaign con-obfuscate their stories.

Biden will need to be well versed in her story and praise her for her few accomplishments in order to emphasize her many extreme new con repub dic'tator leaning failures.

  9. i think i've figured this nonsense out. see,

it has nothing to do with experience and blah blah.

    mr. mccain,

    in his fearmongering,

    has co-opted the soccer mom.

    it's all about imagery.

    the strong, protector (grand)dad type,

    and now,

    soccermom heroine,

    who too,

can show those babyeating terrortowel heads,

    that america will be safe.

    grandpa-man and soccergirl!

(what scares me is that it just may work)

    grandpa-man and soccergirl!

    the fearnamic duo!

    greedy bastards.

  12. The MSM seems to be giving Obama's great speech and the crazy McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS Veep pick equal time.

Uuuhhmmmm, Not looking good for the anti-MAV McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS.

Unlike Obama, Palin has a lot less than a year and half to introduce herself to the US.

Perhaps that was a big part of the McPOWhowmanyMANSIONS' campaign calculation-- since there's not that much there with Palin to explain... pro-new con repub dic'tatorship and anti-education/women's rights/environment.

    Pretty simple.

  13. War, oil, taxes, no abortion and no science.

    It's the Republican platform stupid!!

Whether the face on stage is young or old, it makes no difference

It's their platform that never changes - regardless of those slowly and tortuously suffocating underneath.

Palin, for her small well off population and state with no taxes and no deficits- has horrendous problems within her own society. She wouldn't know though - only those with boats and planes can reach her offices in Juneau -no roads to the rest of the state.

Typical for another corrupt Republican, Palin started her first day off with a blatant lie -she gave the impression she said no to the "bridge to nowhere" money. She in fact, took that money from the federal government - but gave it to some of her own citizens.

Severe health and environmental issues have also put Alaska at the top of the divide between those that have and those who don't - a perfect microcosm of what happens under all Republican control.

In the Vice Presidential debate between Cheney and Edwards, the moderator brought up AIDS in Africa. Cheney expressed his concerns - for "the number of citizen workers who were dying, and the numbers of military members guarding the pipelines who were also succumbing to the disease".

Palin my friends, is another Dick Cheney- in a skirt.

I think Cindy McCain may have spent some of the $100 million dollars her father left her on a house or two.

Maybe he was a real bastard to grow up with and she deserved every penny, but I am still willing to bet everyone in my little town who is barely getting by works a lot harder than Missy McCain.

  15. When the dust settles and the shock that McCain could actually be this stupid has set in, I think tough questions will be asked.

The leaders of this party must be shaking their heads.

But I do look forward to the debate between Biden and Palin.

Unfortunatly for Biden, regardless of how bulldog she may come off and uninformed she is, his characteristic toughness may come off to many as being a bully.

  17. Like I said on another post, she will be McCains shield. Everytime we have to go through her to attack his policies it will be like smacking Bambi with a sack full of hammers.

As a woman I recommend giving her an opportunity to speak for herself-at length. I don't think she is an idiot at all, but she is untried, unschooled and uneducated in the political sense. Let it show.

here is no point in turning her into a martyr and if she turns out to be an attack dog you can bite her in the butt with a clear conscience.

  18. Hey .. you know this will be a party WH with even more debauchery potential than Bill Clinton. Let's look at the facts

John McCain was a party animal from High School days on thru the Naval Academy (and a notable underachiever in both academically)...and a womanizer. Him and BC oughta go bar-hopping sometime: http://www.usvetdsp.com/jan08/mccain_military_record.htm

Cindy McCain was a drug addict: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/1999/10/18/drugs/

and aside from the 8 houses owns a BIG beer distributorship (oughta pull in the NASCAR vote)

(Of course they first met while McCain was married...but hey, what the hell. She has such a poor moral compass she doesn't even consider her half-sisters as siblings) http://tinyurl.com/6fexrx

Palin of course is smoking pot and slaying the wiley moose.

Oughta make for an interesting BBQ at the WH, yes?

  22. As a downtrodden spic from the hood I own 4 homes I rent four. How about interviewing me. I am living the dream. I was born and raised a poor new texican child, but my parents didn't ask for a government handout. My father worked nights for the "greedy" railroads, my mother was a cashier at the "white owned" grocery store. Paid cash for my college. They understood self sufficiency and did not want your white liberal handouts or pity. They are retired, believe in god and the American dream. You white guilt folks are pathetic.

This poor spic from the hood lives in one of the most affluent neighborhoods in texas and I do not the begrudge the wealthier folks as you liberals do. I see what the Ultra Rich do and how they support their community. I am living Dr. Kings Dream. Interview me as the poor downtrodden, who can't think for themselves.

My children will attend a private faith based school, so I can perpetuate the american dream and let my children know what hardwork is. Not handouts that you big government wonks wish for. I was prepared to get them to Harvard as the ultimate payback to may parents. Now I would NOT send them their if Barack Obama is the type of elitist leftist they pump out.
