Barack Obama went to Indiana but all Evan Bayh got was this lousy photo op.

Wednesday's joint appearance in Elkhart featuring the presumptive Democratic nominee for president and the solon who would like very much to be the presumptive Democratic nominee for vice president produced no news.

Bayh secured his moment of national exposure, thanks to the over-reaction of the Washington press corps to the over-the-top speculation about Obama's Indiana swing.

The pictures of the senator from Illinois looking over the senator from Indiana were taken.

But that's all that happened.

Now, Obama's preparing for a family vacation in Hawaii.

America's preparing to watch the Olympics.

And the best bet is that the Democrat's vice presidential pick -- probably someone other than Bayh -- will come after the games.

The same goes for Republican John McCain, who will likely make his pick only when he knows who the Democratic frontrunner has selected.

    He's leaving town now- right before the convention. And spends his last days - before the convention and before he leaves town in Indiana of all places, with Bayh.

    Bayh has time to get ready - for the turmoil when Obama returns - as our next VP.

    I couldn't stand Obama kowtowing to Harold Ford Jr's. crowd, that was bad enough.

    But to to choose and force feed a boring and meritless person the Democrats already voted against, is a horrendous insult to all of us who stood by him until he became the nominee.

    As a die hard Democrat I will not swallow this bait and switch job. The polls reflect there are millions of other who feel the same already - and it will only grow worse. I will note vote - fu** the Democrats once and for all - and A*I*P*A*C -for turning the Congress of the US into one who sacrifices it's own for the good of another nation.

    Hillary, you wouldn't have won either so don't be too happy at Obama's loss.

    Everyone, thank Obama for four more years of Harry and Steny's pandering -and whining. And the final end to the Democratic party.

    Sorry Governor Dean, you did your damnedest.

Well, that and Obama is unlikely to choose the Prince of Darkness as his running mate. I don't know about you guys but I think that is a point in his favor.

    I think that was more or less my point Mask. Grandpa needs to prove he's a non-threat to the status quo so the opposition to him will be minimal. Plus he needs to show that Obama is the risk to established interests, and therefore will threaten the apple cart too much to be chosen. Hence the whole "he's an elitist/too different" canoodle. Grandpa is little more than a blank slate, waiting for his next direction from advisors/lobbyists/special interests/whoever shells out the most cash for the influence. Remember there are enough people who got rich, insanely rich, and they want that cash cow to just keep on rolling. Obama has already promised enough that he's a greater risk to that established order. So Grandpa has to ramp up the fear factor to the Nth degree and not talk about himself, because if people actually looked at him, the suit will also look rather thin.

    Okay bring it on Frank I'm in a scrapping mood LOL.

They say people want to vote for something not against something, so I honestly could see the hard right sitting this out for four years waiting for Obama to screw up so they can sweep in (I recognize this is Frank's wet dream as well, but bear with me on just the right for now LOL) and reclaim the top seat. Of course, if Obama is a huge success, there go all those pipe dreams and they're stuck for eight years. They either bite the bullet and vote for the less-than-perfect or sit home and let Obama into the White House. At least they'll always have Rush and FOX to vent to.
