In the wake of the news that George Zimmerman was found innocent, many have reassessed the effectiveness of the law and wondered how a trial about the murder of a 17-year-old became more about judging the victim than the defendent. The Nation’s Patricia Williams spoke with Brian Lehrer on WNYC this morning to offer her take on these issues, arguing that this case was handled poorly from the second the police arrived at the scene of the murder.
