In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, President Obama and Mitt Romney both canceled several campaign events hundreds of miles west of the eastern seaboard. Never before in US history has there been a natural catastrophe so close to a presidential election. Nation Washington correspondent John Nichols appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews to talk about Sandy’s effect on the election less than a week away. “This is, for better or worse, an image game now,” Nichols said.
Neither presidential candidate mentioned climate change in any of the debates. Mike Tindwell writes that, with Sandy, the issue can't be ignored much longer.
