After the Citizens United Supreme Court decision, corporations enjoy many of the free speech rights that for years were reserved only for individuals. As Mark Ames and Mike Elk report in this week's issue of The Nation, the libertarian brothers who head of Koch Industries are taking full advantage of this new-found freedom, going so far as to explicitly recommend which candidates its employees should vote for. The corporation handed out a pamphlet to its 50,000 employees during last year's midterm season, warning them of big government's destructive role—and The Nation was able to obtain Koch Industry's Washington State pamphlet.
Joining Democracy Now! this morning, Ames explains that by sending out the pamphlet, Koch Industries politicize the workplace, creating a great potential for political discrimination in employment. For more, read their story "Big Brothers: Thought Control at Koch."
