It will take a lot of arm-twisting to get a peace agreement out of Netanyahu. Logic or reason has no impact on faith-based assumptions. Obama would have to play hardball by cutting off aid to Israel. It is the only leverage he has in dealing with them. Traditionally, Israel has always tried to tie themselves to some major Western power for additional protection and aid, but I think they are running out of nations who will take their part in the Middle East. Unless Obama changes course, he will fail with the economy, but an Israeli/Palestinian peace agreement would give him a major legacy for his one term!

Did I miss something? You say that Obama asked Netanyahu to start "dismantling the settlements"? I beg to differ. Obama asked him to "stop building the settlements," not to dismantle them, which is an entirely different thing.

Obama did his "duty" by asking, and Netanyahu did his "duty" by complying (but with such preconditions at to make it impossible to comply). Neither Obama nor Netanyahu is serious. You can just see them in the Oval Office laughing and snickering--killing Palestinians is such a joke!--and shaking hands and agreeing what suckers the Jewish American community is. "I did what they wanted," each says in unison. What a joke! "Holocausts, blockades, genocides! What an hilarious joke! And what suckers they are.Thank god we got rid of JFK and LBJ gave us the bomb that JFK refused! Ha! Ha!" And Obama continues to smile charismatically and go on dates and lure the Arabs against Iran, just like Israel did with the Egyptians in Gaza. What a joke!
