Web Letters: Judgment Day for Tax Cheats

Nice "redirect"--tea parties are about the government spending future dollars, requiring more taxes. It is about depleting the pocketbooks of current and future generations. That spending what you do not have does not equal an "economic recovery plan." If you wish to make comments about tax diversion, please do not use another topic as your title.

We have no offshore bank accounts, we are not wealthy. We are just regular citizens who are trying to leave something worthwhile for our children. If you are not outraged by what is happening in our country, then you are just ignorant. We are willing and happy to pay our fair share, and, in fact have no issues with paying taxes. What we have issues with is the outrageous spending, and freebie giveaways to the people who were most irresponsible, greedy and downright dishonest. While those of us who payed our mortgages off, who live in a small ranch home that is perfectly adequate for our family (not a 15,000-square-foot mini-mansion.) who didn't go on the European vacation, or drive the giant SUV we couldn't afford: we get the short end of the stick. Not only are we paying our neighbor's mortgage, but because of his greed, and lack of any sense of responsibility, we are also watching as they devalue the home we have already paid for.

FYI, neither me nor my husband are Republicans (we are both registered Independents) and I voted for Obama, because I actually believed his sales pitch about a return to ethics in the White House. I was sickened to realize my mistake with his choice of Timothy Geithner--tax cheat extraordinaire.

You can twist it any way you want, but it is still your country being washed down the river--and if you think there is some special life-saving device that can save us all, there isn't. There isn't enough money in the universe to save us from this disaster. It is time for those who are responsible to be held responsible.

Ah, the "tax cheats": those who do not pay their taxes. We shouldn't forget to mention Timothy (I don't have to pay my taxes until I get chosen to be the treasury secretary of the United States) Geithner--the same man who was the former head of the NYC chapter of the (Not-So-Federal-Private) "federal" reserve (with no reserves either)--who is now in charge of embezzling all our money into the hands of the very few, the bankster elite.
