Web Letters: Don't Go There Mr. President!

It never ceases to amaze me how the far left wing blames all of the terrorism that has engulfed the world on Israel. If only the United States would pressure Israel then terrorism will end! The people who believe this should move to another planet because they sure do not have a grasp of reality on this one.

Since our 911 Moslem terrorists have killed thousands of innocent civilians in bombings in Fiji, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Turkey. These are all countries that have a Moslem population of over ninety five percent. There have also been attacks in Syria and Lebanon,and of course the carnage in Iraq, again, all Moslem countries. The bomb attacks on trains and subways in Spain and England had absolutely nothing to do with Israel.

There will not be peace of earth if there is a solution to the Palestinian-Israeli problem. I do support a two State solution, and hope it can someday be a reality but unlike the far Left I do not have any illusions that Islamic terror will cease once that great day happens. It's time to stop blaming all the worlds problems on Israel and the Israeli lobby. Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East where every day, on radio, television, print media, and the Internet the government and its leaders are criticized by the people of Israel. In none of the other countries mentioned in this letter would that be possible.

It's time to stop justifying, explaining, or excusing Islamic terrorism and to call it what it is: murder without reason or cause by sick people who have no sense of rationality or concern for their fellow human beings, including members of their own religious group. Nothing will end the murderous reign of terror except the defeat of those killing innocents of all faiths around the world.

As usual Tom Hayden has it wrong on national security. To Obama's credit, he understands that a military defeat in Afghanistan will have extraordinarily negative geopolitical consequences. Indeed he is a beneficiary of the Iraq surge that has given him the flexibility to act appropriately in Central Asia.

I have a question, rather than a series of self-righteous, self-admiring statements.

What would have happened the $2.4 trillion that these little experiments in testosterone cost had, rather, been invested in diplomacy and improving domestic safety? Could we have involved the world community in diplomatic efforts to change the course of events in the Middle East? Would we have slowed the rapprochement of Russia and China toward military co-operation? Would China be less apt to rattle sabres if we had kept our military limitations a secret? Would NATO and the United Nations been more of a viable option if they had seriously been involved, rather than taking the nationalistic, macho, machismo, tack that we took?

Why, after seven years of total failure, are the warriors still running our foreign policy?

Why has this administration, which sounded so rational and sane during the election, become so timid about its direction to sanity?

These are honest question. I truly do not know the answers.
