  • I admire and applaud Jon Stewart. But to compare a comedian with a serious journalist is ludicrous! There was only one Edward R. Murrow and there will never be another.

  • McCarthy was on his way out when Murrow went after him, but Murrow might have thought going after him was risky. He looked a little nervous during that broadcast. Cronkite was my all-time favorite news anchor. Peter Jennings was another favorite, and he kept his reporters out of the spin room. I like Jim Clancy on CNN International when I can get him. I rate them as the greatest broadcast anchors.

  • "It's a sad--almost terrifying--comment on the state of the American media that we have come to rely on these two funnymen to tell us the truth about our country." We? You have got to be joking! You are a professor? My God! Talk about sad and terrifying.

  • Kenneth The Page's evil Louisiana twin has declared war on the arts.

Bobby Jindal is about to enact a shameful budget cut that will devastate Louisiana's economy by slashing the state budget for the arts and arts education by 83 percent.

Yes, you read that correctly... 83 percent!

This extremist Republican will virtually eliminate a $10 billion industry supporting 144,000 jobs. The Louisiana House Appropriations Committee will be meeting on April 2--which is next week! They are they are our last hope to stop Jindal from persuing this insane course of action!

Please cover this story and give your desperately needed assistance to those Louisianians fighting to keep the arts and arts education alive in our communities and schools!

Investing in the arts is economically productive. It is paramount in revitalizing struggling urban centers and dilapidating historic districts. In terms of civics, these programs foster public discourse and debate and critically activate public memory. Moreover, these programs attract tourism, which is a vital part of Louisiana's struggling economy.

Please help expose this shameful attack that shows Jindal's true neoconservative colors! Again, please cover this story!
