Web Letters: Vote Suppression Watch

Writing this regarding what I call voter suppression here in Kansas City, Missouri. The local news reported at this particular voting precinct that they had only two voting machines for people voting absentee in Jackson County. This is primarily a black constituency. There were many people still waiting at 10 pm. It is difficult to comprehend. I voted in Kansas City North today and had no trouble waiting to vote. There were at least eight booths, and if you had a paper ballot there were tables set up. This precinct is middle-class white.

Waiting to see what happens. Already on the local radio station KKFI made some mention there may be trouble with some people not getting to vote because of malfunctions etc. in Jackson County (Kansas City, Missouri) and that police or others would be there to prevent any problems.

Thanks for the info that ACORN called attention to the questionable nature of some of the voter registration forms. ACORN has gotten hammered in the media for quite a while now, and that's the first time I've heard that they had questioned whether whether that guy (or woman) was really Mickey Mouse, and passed on those reservations when they delivered the forms. I also did not know that they were legally obliged to preserve those forms. I'm sure both major parties are doing things to help their candidates, but I appreciate the facts you brought out in the article. Any facts that have eluded most of the media for several weeks now are really appreciated. The more information we have, the better our decisions can be. Keep up the good work.
