Web Letters: Likable Enough for VP

Mr. Scheer thinks that a Democratic win in November can reverse the present trend of stacking the Supreme Court with right-wing conservatives.

I don't remember any effort by the Democrats in Congress to oppose the nomination of John Roberts as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

The Democratic party politicians are truly useless. They will betray progressive causes every time they can.

Even worse than these betrayals is to keep supporting the Democrats with the idiotic rationale that they are "the lesser of two evils."

Based on many of the points in this article, I think the VP will be someone who shares Obama's views, not too well known, but with some administrative experience. I would not be too surprised if it would be Senator Webb from Virginia. He was a Reagan Democrat, Secretary of the Navy, and has strong defense credentials. He has a new book out containing his background and views. He has also been more visible on television and, besides the book, in print. I don't know if he is a corporate Democrat, or a Progressive/Labor Democrat. He might be a populist, which is more related to a Progressive agenda. He is a Jackson/Teddy Roosevelt fan and he would appeal to Senator Clinton's base. He would certainly appeal to the party establishment, but I am not sure what we would get with him as VP. This is pure election analysis, and not policy driven.
