  • One of the most outrageous aspects of the torture employed was a crematorium at Abu Ghraib where what look like human bones indicate that people were possibly burned alive. (See "Exposure: The Woman Behind the Camera at Abu Ghraib," The New Yorker," March 24, 2008.) That this has not received any attention is inconceivable, and the only reason I can think of is that it reminds one too much of what happened at Auschwitz. How dare America ignore this?

  • You asked "Where is the outrage?" Mine came out when Bush vetoed the ban on waterboarding. I wrote both my Senators and my congressman that I was going to waterboard them--figuring that they had more useful info than some poor fool at Gitmo. I told them that the government said it was legal and useful, so I would be coming for them soon. This landed the Secret Service at my door for threatening a presidential candidate. They assured me that it was a "small pool" of people that could be waterboarded. Does that make you feel safer?
