  • We cannot save Iraq! Iraqi's are the only people who can save Iraq.

They have to work together to preserve Iraq as a nation. With the exception of al-Qaida, I think the national impulse is strongest among the insurgent groups that have fought us. For example, al- Sadr has said that his religion is Shia, but his politics are the same as the Sunni nationalists who are insurgents. The Mahdi army, according to al-Jazeera, provided some support to the insurgents in Falluja before the Shia Mosque was blown up.

Since we have started working with the Sunni Insurgents against al-Qaida, the violence has been reduced. I think a similar approach involving the Mahdi army and al-Sadr might also produce results.

We should also encourage al-Sadr's nationalist impulse to reach out to his Sunni "brothers" and bring Iraq together as a nation. However, it is in our own national interest to leave Iraq, because we are part of a problem that can only be solved by Iraqis. We need to get out of the way, and let them do their best to solve it.

  • People should have listened more to Joe Biden on his Iraq war solution, and I'm disappointed that he didn't get very far in the presidential race.

He still has a website up for how to end the war at www.planforiraq.com assuming congress and the White House can make the solution possible.

  • The only way for this war to end is for the troops to shoot their officers and then come home.
