  • Those of us who opposed the Iraq War knew that Saddam Hussein was not a nice person, but we opposed the war anyway. The war in Iraq replaced Saddam Hussein with Al Qaeda in Iraq. I don't think becoming involved in the internal affairs of another country is a good idea, and, like war itself, it should be a last resort. I think the Pakistanis need to solve their own political problems. One commentator suggested being friendly to Pakistan as a nation and not becoming involved in internal politics. A missionary foreign policy will get you into trouble. Look at the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, and the US in Vietnam!
