  • Berman refers to "a Latin America that has rejected the Washington/IMF neoliberal agenda, forging closer regional ties in its place" as one of the challenges that needs to be addressed. It troubles me that neither he, nor any of the major candidates actually sees that agenda itself as a key problem that needs to be overcome. I'm not surprised about the candidates, but it bugs me that a writer for The Nation sees it that way.

  • I've become more and more interested in this parallel between Hillary Rodham Clinton and LBJ. I first read about it here, and now I see in Berman's article that Ted Sorenson (who is in a unique position to make the comparison) brings it up.
