If only more could get involved. The MSM tries very hard to show the other side. Our local TV station had nothing to say about the Fancy Farm picnic; the turnout was great, but the news tried to say it was 50/50! Yes indeed, Kentucky is at war and more so than most think. Kentucky is a Red State and the "depleted" uranium [DU] production capitol of the world.

Kentucky recycles its depleted uranium nuclear waste from the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant--where there is an obscene glut of it--to munitions manufacturers to be concentrated into depleted uranium munitions. Those munitions have been used in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan (that one is debated, but I believe it, based not on opinion but on evidence), "recycling" the US nuclear waste and contaminating the breast of my Mother, the Earth, here and abroad. Sickening even unto death untold myriads of innocent citizens and our own and international military personnel. DU munitions are against the laws of the Geneva Conventions.

In addition some of these munitions are stockpiled at Blue Grass Army Depot. How did they get there? They are transported on our roadways and railways.

I get the sense that Kentuckians in general think Paducah is in some other state because it is so far west. Wake up, Kentucky! There is evidence from the Department of Transportation that even before these munitions are used in battle they emit sufficient gamma radiation in "consolidated quantities"--that is to say in material handling, in transit and while stockpiled--to possibly harm the health of civilian and military workers both nationally and internationally. Those workers do not know they are being exposed.

The more we know about war the uglier it gets. End the war. End the production and use of DU munitions.

As a native, I don't hesitate to defend my hometown every time (and there have been many, many times) a Northerner has snubbed my state for its questionable "hillbilly" past. True, there are rednecks in Kentucky--but you can go as far east as Kennebunkport, Maine, and as west as Monterey, California, and you will still find rednecks.

I also don't hesitate to correct people when they assume that Kentucky can be lumped in with the rest of the red states. If anything, like Mr. Moser says, Kentucky and the rest of the South is a purple area. I know how the people of my hometown work politically. They have common sense, they know injustice when they see it and they aren't afraid to speak up when they see those injustices.

Bravo, LAPC. Bravo DitchMitch, and Bravo Louisville. I raise my late-night bourbon to you.

It sounds like some Californians need to leave their state on vacation every once in a while. There is a strong movement here in Kentucky that is disgusted by this White House and the lies of sending kids to war under false pretenses. We should never shrink from war as a country, but the President has the responsibility to be honest with the citizens as well. 1/20/2009!

Many thanks to those who are standing up and making a difference. We've been trying to get to Kentucky for some time now, have a house for sale that just won't sell, but have property in Lexington. I can't tell you how satisfying it would be to be able to vote and stand a chance of unseating one of these right-wing stooges. Here in Utah our vote is worthless. This article makes me all the more anxious to move.

It really is tragic that so many of our soldiers think that they're fighting to protect our rights when all the while our rights are being systematically eroded by our government.
