Before these recent offers, Israel had turned down "upgrades" on their Arrow Missile Defense system, along with some new systems that were supposed to be wonderful, and were going to try to build their own system. It has since been reported that their own system wasn't working out, and there was no more money available to work on it. The previous CEO of the company that was supposed to make them, remarking on their effectiveness, said diplomacy was your best defense against incoming missiles.

Most of these wonderful weapons system being offered to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Israel are nothing but corporate welfare. They may increase tensions in the region, but they are worthless from a national defense viewpoint. Israel has a satellite, but do Egypt and Saudi Arabia have any for guidance purposes?

These governments need to take a close look at these systems and make sure they actually work. Congress, too, needs to take a close look at this junk.
