  • Dealing with Al Qaeda and the Taliban is something all countries in the region will have to do with or without American "help." Mainstream Sunni or Shia Muslims will either have to fight Al Qaeda or the Taliban or surrender their religious values. Similarly, all governments in the Middle East, North Africa, and Spain are threatened by Al Qaeda's dream of a caliphate. We now see the Sunni Iraqis turning on Al Qaeda. Musharraf and Pakistan will have to either eliminate Al Qaeda and the Taliban as threat or submit to their style of government.
