  • Obviously The Nation has thrown out the facts of this story. Even a cursory review of the documents released by the WB reveals that Wolfowitz went out of his way to disclose his relationship and manage the situation in an ethical manner. The Nation looks for any reason to slam a brainy person with whom it disagrees, even at the sacrifice of the facts. This is yet another fabricated scandal against an individual who actually believes in something, and is therefore hated.

  • Why is the Nation wasting space on this scandal? Although its nice to see Wolfowitz squirm, who cares if he is bringing disrepute to 'one of the world's leading economic institutions'? The World Bank is a terrible institution, foisting neoliberal misery on people everywhere in the name of 'fighting poverty', 'good governance', etc. To the extent that Wolfowitz has dragged its name down even in more mainstream spaces, perhaps we should say 'heckuva job'!
