Web Letters: A Wider Corruption

I would be quite pleased to see the AG leave office in 2009 along with his master. In fact, I suspect that the prospects of his leaving D.C any time soon are quite remote, and a good thing too.

Certainly the President won't ask for his resignation. We all know that the President is a man of modest intellect (for which Mommy dearest will never forgive him), and it seems more apparent every day that this man inhabits a world far removed from the realms of rationality and emotional stability. So here we are with a detached and delusional dullard leading the Executive Branch, and most likely the Decider doesn't understand that disclosures documenting the AG's corruption and interference with criminal investigations will continue as long as Gonzales remains in office. If nothing else, the pace of investigation would slow, most likely, and the rate of revelations would diminish - until another source appears. And Gonzales, the sycophantic lick-spittle that he is, may not be entirely be clear that his continuing tenure only adds to the fervor of opponents and the willingness of subordinates to talk. Then again, perhaps neither of them thinks he has anything to lose. It's not as if their approval rates among voters or on Capital Hill could sink lower than they already have, and Bush may care not care any longer what happens to the GOP, now that he's been cornered and treed.

Let them dig in their heels. Let Gonzales stay, and let the talk continue. It may be the only way we will ever have to understand the scope and extent of the President's already legendary failure in every dimension and department of governance.
