Web Letters: War Drums on Iran

  • The Senate rejected the surge strategy. The perspective is wrong in regards to the wishes of "the people" = at least, the informed.

What we (the people) need is a proposition that says that, if you (Congress) failed to reject Bush's new military adventure of escalation for the two votes held, then, your districts and states will pay a tax surcharge. That is, it's 5% per representative that will be added to your constituents' tax bill. For example, if both your Senators agree with Bush, then that's 10% more on your 1040, and if your Congressional rep also rejected yesterday's House motion, then add in another 5%.

It's only fair; those who want war should pay for it. Let's make this personal! This is for real accountability and let these ridiculous GOP people understand for once that there is a political price to be paid -- unless of course their population is too naive to see the futility of Bush's plan and are willing or comfortable to pay more taxes. They can pay the $27 billion plus, but can count me out. How are we to pay for this nonsensical buildup? I rather see some new infrastructure (roads, transit, hospitals, schools, etc.) here in the US.

An alternative plan? Reduce all appropriations to the nayers for their states and districts based on the same 5% rule.
