Web Letters: Will the Watada Mistrial Spark an End to the War?

Lt. Watada is a hero but the mistrial is not getting much mainstream media coverage. The only way this war is going to end is when people pick up the phone and call members of Congress or hit the streets in mass and bang pots and pans. The Democrats are wimps at best and afraid of the Rove propaganda machine and there sound bites. The Democrats and GOP members of Congress need courage to move forward and out of Iraq. So write, call and bang pans in the streets.

Imagine--a vast, corrupt system with infinite resources and power, stopped dead in its tracks by the simple, pure and morally unambiguous act of one courageous young man saying "No, I won't go--it's wrong," while reminding us of the the fundamental principles and rule of law upon which this nation was built, is a lush oasis in an otherwise empty desert.

Lieut. Watada is effectively asking Mssrs Cheney and Bush: "Have you no shame?" Revolutions have started with less.
