  • When I was hitching through Malawi and Tanzania last summer, I got rides from:
    bus drivers
    expats
    moms on motorcycles
    police officers.

    The "aid" worker types never so much as glanced in my direction. You could tell them a mile away, because they all drive $80,000 Range Rovers and had really pissy demeanors.

    Not sure how that relates, except that your findings come as no surprise to one who has born the brunt of these people's arrogance directly.
