  • Martin Luther King Jr. had it all! He was intelligent, courageous, a thinker, an organizer, and a leader. This article shows that he could think tactically and strategically. What I particularly liked about this article was his emphasis on reaching across racial lines and working together. In any social endeavor, building bridges between people is critical!

    I think this article clarified his relationship with President Johnson, and his opinion of various Presidents. I read somewhere that Roosevelt once told a petitioner who wanted him to something about a particular problem, to "Make Me Do It"! While I think Johnson was ready to do it as far as civil rights legislation, King pushed society in a direction that made that legislation possible. King created the condition that allowed Johnson to use his considerable legislative skills to get to get the civil rights bills through Congress.

    When you work with people, you can get things done.
