Wherefore Al Gore?

They're asking now, "Wherefore Al Gore?"
They're thinking now, "Should we explore
A few alternatives before
We find too late we've bet the store
And stuck ourselves forevermore
With someone whom we don't abhor
But find--well, though with gifts galore
And talents that we can't ignore
And children we could all adore
And, so we're told, a great rapport
With folks in smallish groups, say four
Or three or maybe two--a bore?"
