US Special Forces Deployed in Iraq, Again

Where are they now?

Read with great interest Hayden’s article about US Special Forces deployed into Iraq. I can’t help but wonder about the current activities of the Iraqi special forces, which The Nation reported on some years ago. As I recall from Shane Bauer’s article, this unit was under the direct command of the president and was made up of young men who had been recruited into training camps outside the country to be turned into the private army of whoever the United States picked as president of Iraq. They were to maintain a relationship with US Special Forces, which presumably would continue a presence in Iraq after any official withdrawal took place.

Is anyone keeping track of these forces?
